Join us at Gallery222 for a fabulous workshop with Jan Wier. Jan will begin the session with a demo. She will demonstrate how to build paintings with luminous color starting with transparent colors, and building towards opaques. Students will then be working from still life set ups arranged through out Gallery222 . You will be working in oils, alla prima style; wet on wet to create your own paintings..
Take a break during the workshop with a delicious catered lunch.
This class is for artists who have some experience painting with oils.
Easel – Bring your own portable easel, and anything else you require to paint for the day.
Supports – Canvas – stretched or panels, or gessoed hardboard
Odorless Turpenoid or Gamsol – Think half a mayo jar full. Colors can’t stay clean if brushes aren’t clean!
Linseed or walnut oil – small container
Paper Towels – Viva
Brushes – Variety of synthetic and bristle, and a variety of sizes and shapes
Basic - Burnt Sienna or Transparent Oxide Red, Ultramarine Blue, Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red Light, Cadmium Yellow Light & Titanium White

Renée and Libby will donate 10% of book sales to The Prana House Spiritual & Holistic Wellness Center in West Chester, PA.
The center plans to open its doors in early 2019 as a non-profit provider of holistic, health & wellness services to the Chester County Community.
Dueling Brushes is a ONE Day indoor Plein Air of sorts. Local artists will participate in 3 rounds of timed painting inside Gallery222. Each gallery will have a different “something” to paint and the artists can paint in different galleries or stay in the same one all afternoon.
This is one unique and fun event you won’t want to miss… and YOU get to play a part by picking our People’s Choice Award.!
The event will coincide with Christmas on King, starting at Noon on December 1st and ending with a Happy Hour Artist Reception 6-8PM. The entire event is open to the public.
The timed painting rounds are:
1st Round - Noon -1:30PM
2nd Round - 2:30PM - 4:30PM
3rd Round - 5:30PM - 6:00PM

Flower Plein Air
On August 4th and 5th, 11 artists participated in Flower Plein Air at Farm and Garden Flowers in Coatesville, PA which is the beautiful residence and commercial flower farm of Madeline Frankel and Jay Pressman. In addition to commercial flower gardens, the property has a pond, a stream, woods, fields, a big hill, and a rustic old barn. There was something for every plein air painter to get excited about.
The finished pieces will be on exhibit at the Gallery Sunday, August 26th. All 11 artists will also be in the Gallery for this amazing one day exhibit.
